What is Freedom Centre?
We are a youth owned drop-in space for young people (under 26) who are same sex attracted and/or gender diverse. We also run workshops, courses, retreats, activities and events. Find more below.

 

Services for Professionals working with young people

Trainings, Professional Development & Resources

Freedom Centre offers a range of trainings for professionals & students. These trainings can cover issues faced by & how to support young people with diverse sexuality & gender. Trainings are tailored to meet the needs of your organisation. Topics covered can include;

  • Diverse sexuality model
  • Diverse sex and gender model
  • Myths and issues faced by young people who are LGBTI+
  • Understanding sexuality, sex and gender diverse people’s personal perspectives
  • Values and attitudes about sexuality, sex and gender
  • Types of homophobia and transphobia
  • Psycho-social health factors and statistics
  • Framework for supporting sexuality, sex and gender diverse young people
  • Useful resources for further understanding and knowledge

Please Contact Dani, the Freedom Centre Coordinator to request an agency visit to FC, or for us to come to you for trainings, service info sessions or community events.

Service for Young People

Drop In Sessions

One of the main things we do at FC is open the Centre for drop in sessions so young people can drop in, hang out, meet new people who know where they are coming from and get support & info! more

FC Online

Freedom Centre provides online peer support & info services to young people through our forum and tumblr blog, and our info and links sections. more

Events

At different times we run a range of recreational and educational activities including retreats & participate in community events like the Pride Parade. more

FC knows how important it is for young people to get the right info and to get it with respect! We have a great INFO section and and links section in this site. Printed resources are available in the drop-in centre or you can contact the FC Coordinator, Dani (info@freedom.org.au /9482 0000 /9228 0354) to get the info you need.
