Freedom Centre is looking for some amazing new designs, and we want them to be created by LGBTIQA+ young people, for LGBTIQA+ young people!
We are seeking creatively inclined people, or people who just want to give it a go, to enter our design competition where your designs have a chance to be featured on our badges, merchandise, and promotional materials!
To enter you must be an LGBTIQA+ young person aged between 12-25 who currently lives in Western Australia.
Sounds like fun, what are the details?
We’re glad you asked! The theme of the Freedom Centre Art Competition is Queer History – The events and people that shaped what it means to be LGBTIQA+ now.
Make your best, funniest, or most striking entry following the above theme, and have your entry in before the closing date of October 3rd, 2025.
All submitted designs will have the opportunity to be featured in an upcoming gallery exhibition at Freedom Centre, and, where possible, artists will receive their design as a limited edition badge just for them!
What do you Win?
All winning entries will receive a framed print of their design, a certificate, and will have their artwork (and optionally their bios) featured on the Freedom Centre’s social media and website.
Runner-ups will receive a $50 gift card, while Grand Prize winners will receive a $150 gift card AND get their artwork printed on a piece of merch (details dependent on what is feasible with the design).

How to Enter
Entering is easy as ever! Simply fill out the form here, and submit your entry via email to freedomcentre@waac.com.au with the subject line Design Competition FC followed by your name.

All artwork must be submitted digitally. If you’re submitting a drawing or painting, please scan it at 300 dpi (high quality) so it looks sharp. If you’re not sure how, let our staff know – we can help!
You’ll always keep the copyright to your artwork. By entering, you’re giving WAAC (Freedom Centre’s parent organisation) permission to use your design to celebrate, promote, and showcase our community.
You can submit up to 2 entries per person, so let your creativity flow!
Strictly NO AI! AI goes against the spirit of the competition and takes away from local talent, so put your best foot forward and give it a go, we believe in you!
